Police Checks are required for all members of the FCA. Updates and refresh courses are not required by the FCA, but local churches are strongly encouraged to implement a policy that involves updates and refresh courses.
Which police check is required:
- Anyone born before Feb 28, 1986 requires a Vulnerable Sector Check
- Anyone born after Feb 28, 1986 can complete an Enhanced Criminal Record Check (names of this check will vary by province and detachment)
- All police checks need to be 6 months old or less
- All police checks need to be verified
How to verify a police check:
The FCA doesn’t require that new members send original copies to the office, however, all police checks need to be verified by church leadership before they are submitted.
The following should be written on the document before its scanned and submitted to the office:
- A statement “I verify this is an original and unaltered [name of check].”
- Date
- Signature
- Printed name
